BROAD AND BASNIGHT TO BE HONORED FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO EDUCATION WITH UNCW RAZOR WALKER AWARDS

WILMINGTON – UNC President Molly Broad and N.C. Sen. Marc Basnight are two of the 10 extraordinary people being honored by the UNC Wilmington Donald R. Watson School of Education with this year’s Razor Walker Award. The recipients will be presented with the award on Monday, April 30, 2001, during a ceremony at the UNCW Warwick Center Ballroom.

The Razor Walker Award, established in 1993 by the Watson School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, is recognized as one of the state’s most prestigious and unique service awards. The award is presented annually to a select group of individuals who have, through personal commitment and tenacity, made a significant impact on the lives and the education of children in North Carolina.



Past winners of the Razor Walker Award include inventors, physicians, a Nobel Prize co-laureate, the founder of a major cultural center, authors and artists, a farmer, an Episcopal minister, a Superior Court judge, a school custodian, corporate executives and state leaders.
