NCSU PHYSICIST TO LECTURE ABOUT HURRICANES AT UNCW’S CENTER FOR MARINE SCIENCE

WILMINGTON, NC – Dr. Leonard J. Pietrafesa from NC State University will present “Hurricanes Are a Terrible Thing to Waste” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, in UNCW’s Center for Marine Science Auditorium.

Pietrafesa, who has devoted more than 30 years to the study of physics, is director of the Office of External Affairs for the College of Physical and Mathematical Science. He also served as director of the Southeast University Consortium for Severe Storms. Pietrafesa received his doctorate in geophysics/geophysical fluid dynamics from the University of Washington.
