WILMINGTON, N.C. -– Getting ahead in today’s fast-paced electronic economy means knowing more than how to send an e-mail or surf the Web.

It takes a knowledge of e-business, e-marketing, e-technologies and e-applications to excel.

“Essentials in the Networked Economy” is a 17-hour interactive, project-driven workshop being offered by the UNCW Cameron School of Business Oct. 11-13 at the university’s Executive Development Center.

The program will emphasize developing and managing e-business strategies and will focus on ways firms can benefit from e-business opportunities. It will:

introduce e-business methods and models that create value,

focus on current trends and changing business processes,

develop internet marketing strategies,

examine key management practice and technology issues in implementing models,

address privacy and security concerns

and include basic technologies.

Facilitators for the program include the following Cameron School faculty: Craig Galbraith, management; Randy Hanson, business law; Vince Howe and Thom Porter, marketing; Tom Janicki and George Schell, information systems; Tracy Rishel, operations management; and Rebecca Sawyer, accounting.

The workshop will be useful for managers who set the agenda for their organizations’ e-business strategy, individuals in retail, manufacturing and service industries who are interested in business-to-business and business-to-consumer concepts, established organizations and entrepreneurs and small business teams who want to develop an e-business strategic vision.

The cost is $825 a person, or $750 a person for groups of three or more from the same organization. Registration information and payments must be received by Friday, Oct. 5. The workshop is limited to 25 participants.
