RE: UNCW Student Tickets for Wizards

Friday, September 28, 2001

I have been asked by Student Body President Adrien Lopez to alert you about how UNCW student tickets will be given out for the Wizards scrimmage scheduled for Oct. 9 in Trask Coliseum. Please help get the word out to students and plan to cover these activities yourself on Monday evening, Oct. 1. Here’s what Adrien wrote:

“There are some changes in the distribution of the student tickets for the Wizards Game on October 9th. SGA and some other student organizations are planning to have a "Campout" on the Commons on the Monday night before tickets are available to hype this game up to create a demand for the tickets! We are trying to make this an entertaining event for students and have even invited the Chancellor to come out... I would really like all of the news sources in the community to know about this so they can plug it and advertise to the students, as well as have all of the national media know about it if they would like to do a story about our school and its students. UNCW usually can't compete with UNC and Duke for the craziness their students go through for tickets, but maybe students here could experience that feeling once before they graduate with this event! Below is the e-mail that is going out to all students on Friday.”

To All UNCW Students:

This email is to inform you of some changes regarding how to obtain student tickets available for the Washington Wizards game with Michael Jordan on October 9th in Trask Coliseum.

Due to the demand for the number of free student tickets we are organizing a "Campout" on the Commons starting at 9:00 p.m. on Monday, October 1st where you can get a number that will guarantee you a ticket for the game. If you receive a number, you must pick up the ticket between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2 at the Information Desk (bring your student i.d. with you). Those who choose to campout will have number priority in the morning to obtain their ticket at the Information Desk when it opens early at 7:00 a.m.

We encourage all students to sleep outside with your tents and sleeping bags for a night filled with free food, music and fun!

Again, your number guarantees that you will have a ticket waiting for you at the Information Desk on Tuesday, October 2. Please remember that you MUST pick it up before the Information Desk Closes at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday and that you must have your number and student i.d. with you!

If you have further questions, please contact the Information Desk at 962-3841.

Hope to see you there!

Adrien Lopez
