UNC WILMINGTON HOSTING SECOND REGIONAL GROWTH SUMMIT

WILMINGTON, NC -- The Cape Fear Regional Growth Team and the UNCW Department of Political Science will host the second Regional Growth Summit from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the UNCW Executive Development Center in the Landfall Center. Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue is the keynote speaker at this free, public event.Formed following the first regional growth summit in November 1999, the Cape Fear Regional Growth Team is comprised of elected local representatives from Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover and Pender counties and the City of Wilmington. Since its inception, the team conducted an inventory of and produced a brochure about regional heritage/tourism sites, lobbied the state Department of Transportation to improve Highway 130 and produced four memoranda regarding regional economic development.
According to Dr. Tom Barth, associate professor of political science at UNCW, this summit’s purpose is to share the team’s accomplishments with the community and provide the public an opportunity to shape future priorities for the team.
