UNCW MOVIE MAKERS LECTURE FEATURES FILMMAKER, PENDER COUNTY NATIVE SAMM-ART WILLIAMS.

WILMINGTON, NC -- Writer, actor and producer Samm-Art Williams will lecture about his film experience at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14, in UNCW’s Morton Hall, Bryan Auditorium. This free, public event is part of the Movie Makers Lecture Series sponsored by the university’s Film Studies Program.Williams, who grew up in Burgaw, wrote the plays Home, Welcome Back River and Friends. Home earned a Tony Award nomination as Best Broadway Play. Williams also wrote episodes for several television series including Cagney and Lacey and Miami Vice. His acting credits include Huckleberry Finn, Women of Brewster Place and Search for Tomorrow. In addition to his writing and acting credits, Williams served as executive producer on the series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Martin. Williams is a visiting professor at UNCW this fall where he is teaching a course in playwriting.
