UNCW LECTURE TO FEATURE SOUTH CAROLINA SCHOLAR ON LITERARY BIOGRAPHY

WILMINGTON, NC – Dr. Matthew Bruccoli from the University of South Carolina will lecture on “Writing About Writers: Experiences as a Literary Biographer” at 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, in UNCW’s Cameron Hall Auditorium. The Katherine K. Buckner Distinguished Presentations Series and the UNCW English Department sponsor t his free, public lecture.Bruccoli, the Emily Brown Jefferies Professor of English at USC Columbia, served as general editor of the Dictionary of Literary Biography. His publications include Some Sort of Epic Grandeur: The Life of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Fitzgerald and Hemingway: A Dangerous Friendship. He also co-edited Thomas Wolfe’s O Lost and F. Scott Fitzgerald Before Gatsby: Twenty-six Stories both published by the University of South Carolina Press.
A member of the USC Columbia faculty since 1969, Bruccoli earned a Ph.D. at the University of Virginia. He teaches courses on 20th-century American fiction, bibliography and text, Fitzgerald and Hemingway and the profession of authorship.
