UNCW POWWOW TO CELEBRATE NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE

WILMINGTON, NC – The Native American Student Organization at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington is sponsoring a powwow from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, on the University Commons.This inaugural event will include Native American music and dancing as well as displays of jewelry, apparel and crafts. A powwow is an American Indian gathering that focuses on family and celebration. Traditionally, it is presented by one tribe or band to welcome and honor others.
UNCW’s Student Government Association, Office of Campus Diversity, Activities and Involvement Center and Office of Housing and Residence Life are powwow co-sponsors.
