WILMINGTON, N.C. – Applications are available for 2002-03 UNCW Alumni Association scholarships. The submission deadline is March 15.

Prospective or current students of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington can apply for one of the 13 scholarships offered. Each scholarship covers the cost of tuition and fees for one academic year, up to $1,500.

Of the 13 awards given annually, 11 go to undergraduates and two go to graduate students. These scholarships are based on academic achievement, demonstrated financial need and school and community involvement. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on all high school or college work. For the Jim Humphries Memorial Scholarship, applicants must be juniors or seniors at UNCW with a minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrated campus and community leadership.

Applications can be obtained from area high school guidance counselors, online at http://www.uncwil.edu/alumni/scholarship or by calling the UNCW Alumni Relations Office at 910.962.2682 or 800.596.2880. Completed application packets must include two “Recommendation for Award” forms to be completed by a teacher, guidance counselor, professor or employer; a certified high school and/or college transcript (if applicable); and a completed application form.

The completed application package must be submitted to the UNCW Alumni Relations Office at Wise Alumni House, 1713 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28403, by 5 p.m. March 15, 2002.
