Wilmington, N.C.-The UNC Wilmington Career Services Center will sponsor the 2002 Internship and Summer Job Fair from 12 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the Warwick Center Ballroom on campus.

Career services has broadened the focus this year to include internship opportunities due to an increasing number of students seeking internship information from the center. Mary Carlson, career development counselor of Career Services, states, “Employers are seeking candidates who have taken the extra step to obtain internships or meaningful summertime employment.” She also added that internships are being emphasized this year due to the economy and the increasing importance for students to be competitive when entering the workforce.

The Internship and Summer Job Fair will give students the chance to obtain information from 30 to 40 different companies in a wide variety of settings including media, non-profit organizations, summer camps and business corporations. Companies will be from local as well as regional areas. Students are encouraged to access the career services Web site at www.uncwil.edu/stauff/career for additional information on prospective employer opportunities before attending. They are also encouraged to bring resumes for submission. Suggested dress is interview attire.
