UNCW CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT TO HOST SIXTH ANNUAL CHEMISTRY SYMPOSIUM

Wilmington, N.C.- The UNCW Chemistry Department will host its sixth annual Symposium on Chemistry and Biochemistry Friday, Jan. 25, and Saturday, Jan. 26, in Dobo Hall, Room 205. The symposium will feature lectures by 11 noted chemists and biochemists.

Friday’s featured programs will begin with a luncheon at noon. Presentation topics include aquatic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry and biochemistry. A dinner will be held at 6 p.m. in Wagoner Hall, Madeline Suite.

Saturday’s lectures begin at 9 a.m. The talks will focus on chemistry education as well as highlight research methodologies designed to improve student learning in general, organic and physical chemistry. A luncheon will be held at 12:45 p.m. in Wagoner Hall, Madeline Suite.

The event is free and open to the public. Online registration is through the Web site http://aa.uncwil.edu/chem/news/symp00/. Registrations are due by Friday, Jan.18. Seating at the luncheons and dinners are limited to the first 50 reservations.
