WILMINGTON – Due to forecasted severe winter weather, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington has postponed new freshmen and transfer orientation originally scheduled for 8 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, to 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4. Check in will begin at 9 a.m. Friday with the program beginning at 10.

A decision will be made about whether to close the university on Thursday as conditions develop Wednesday evening and overnight. Employees should watch local media for announcements on Thursday morning or call the UNCW Adverse Weather Hotline at 910/962-3991 or 888/657-5751.

Whether the university is open or closed, the university’s adverse weather policy applies to employees who may feel that local travel conditions are unsafe.
