Nationally Renowned Journalist to Lecture on Leadership for UNCW Lecture Series

By Kristin Summerford, PR InternWilmington, N.C.- Nationally renowned journalist will present “Talk, Talk and more Talk. But What Do We Have to Say?” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 19 in Kenan Auditorium. This free event is part of the UNCW Leadership Lecture Series and is co-sponsored by the Women’s History Month Committee and WHQR 91.3 FM.
Stamberg, a special correspondent for National Public Radio, has received every major award in broadcasting, including induction into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Radio Hall of Fame in 1996. Stamberg was also the first woman to anchor a national nightly news program.
Beginning in 1972, Stamberg served as co-host for NPR’s award-winning newsmagazine, All Things Considered. From January 1987 to October 1989, she hosted Weekend Edition Sunday, NPR’s morning newsmagazine. Stamberg is guest host of NPR’s Morning Edition, Weekend Edition Sunday and Weekly Edition and reports on cultural issues for all NPR programs.
Prior to joining NPR, Stamberg served as a producer, program director, and general manager of WAMU-FM/Washington, D.C. She is the author of TALK: NPR’s Susan Stamberg Considers All Things and Every Night at Five: Susan Stamberg’s ALL THINGS CONSIDERED Book. She also co-edited The Wedding Cake in the Middle of the Road.
