NCSU Visiting Professor To Speak On Science And Religion

Monday, February 18, 2002

WILMINGTON, NC – Dr. John Hubisz, visiting professor of physics, North Carolina State University, will present “Science and Religion: A University Course” at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington on Thursday, Feb. 28. Dr. Hubisz has been a member of the NC State faculty since 1993. He taught at the College of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas -- where he is professor emeritus -- for 22 years before coming to Raleigh.

Dr. Hubisz will give a one-hour talk about college students’ knowledge of science and religion as two world-views. Questions will be raised as to whether science and religion are enemies, strangers, or partners. This is not a debate; however, there will be a time for questions and comments.

The colloquium is sponsored by the UNCW Physics and Physical Oceanography Department and will be at 7 p.m. in Deloach Hall, Room 212. The public is invited to attend.
