Udall National Scholarship. Marschhauser, who is from Apex, N.C., is the daughter of Brian Marschhauser and Kathleen Marschhauser.
“I am delighted that UNCW is nominating such a strong candidate for this prestigious award,” said Dr. Kate Bruce, director of UNCW Honors Program.

She participates in many environmental programs, such as Adopt-a-Spot and recycling. Marschhauser hopes to attend graduate school to earn her master’s in Environmental Studies. Ultimately, she wants to work in the non-profit sector.
The purpose of the Udall scholarship is to honor Congressmen Udall’s legacy of public service, as well as developing resources to train professionals in environmental issues.
Each year the Foundation awards undergraduate scholarships up to $5,000 to American juniors and seniors in fields related to the environment, and to Native American and Alaska Natives in fields related to health care or tribal policy. The nominations come from all over the country and the foundation awards approximately 75 scholars each year.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be a rising junior or senior, have evidence of leadership, strong scholastics, long-term goals dealing with the environment and the want to pursue an environmental career.
