E-Commerce Expert to Lecture at UNC Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC – E-commerce expert Alfred C. Weaver, professor of computer science at the University of Virginia, will present “Distributed Computing at the Internet’s Edge” at 3 p.m., Friday, April 12, in UNCW’s Cameron Hall, Room 133.

Weaver, who is also director of Internet Commerce Group at UVA, designs advanced e-commerce software systems. He is founder of Virginia’s Internet Technology Innovation Center, which provides technical and business strategy for e-business and develops e-commerce software for corporate and government clients. Weaver and his research team created the Xpress Transport Protocol for the U.S. Navy and a digital ultrasound system for the Department of Radiology at UVA.
