UNCW to Hold Summer Writing Workshop for High School Students

WILMINGTON, NC – The UNCW Creative Writing Department will hold the inaugural Young Writers’ Workshop for high school students Tuesday, June 25, through Friday, June 28.This four-day workshop will provide intensive writing study and interaction with faculty and graduate students in the university’s Creative Writing Department. Designed to meet the needs of young writers of varying abilities and experience levels, the program is geared toward students in grades 10 to 12. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The workshop fee is $250 and covers tuition, on-campus housing and three meals daily. For commuters, the cost is $175 and includes tuition and three meals daily. The registration deadline is May 31.
Workshop participants will attend lectures on the craft of writing presented by UNCW faculty authors Mark Cox, Philip Gerard, Dave Monahan and Sarah Messer. There will also be writing workshops and exercise sessions where students will receive individual attention and advice on writing.
