UNCW to Host Networking Southeastern North Carolina Conference

By Kristin Summerford, PR InternWilmington- NSNC (Networking Southeastern North Carolina) is hosting a conference from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, April 5 at the UNCW Wagoner Hall, Madeline Suite. The purpose of the meeting is to review goals and discuss progress.
NSNC is a collaborative non-profit organization that advocates and seeks partnerships to close the technology gap among schools in southeastern North Carolina quickly and efficiently.
The afternoon discussions will include: Dr. Robert E. Tyndall, UNCW’s associate provost and vice chancellor of information technology systems division, who will discuss “NSNC: Meeting the Goals for Closing the Digital Divide” from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Senator Eric M. Reeves will discuss “The Power of Regional Cooperation and Collaboration” from 2:30 to 3 p.m. From 3 p.m to 3:45 p.m., Jane Smith Patterson, executive director of RIAA (Rural Internet Access Authority), will talk on “Dissolving the Digital Divide: Making Connectivity a Reality One County at a Time in Southeastern N.C. John Killebrew of NCREN (North Carolina Research Educational Network), and Steven Brevig, senior vice president and CIO of N.C. Electric Membership Corporation will discuss “Providing Wider Access” from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., John Killebrew will discuss the update on N.C. Research Educational Network III.
There will be a reception following the lectures that is scheduled at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
