The ensemble’s debut will feature the music of John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie and Theolonious Monk as well as local composers Benny Hill and Shynett.

The UNCW Faculty Jazz Combo will play at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, in Kenan Auditorium.

General admission is $5 per person, per concert. Tickets will be on sale at the auditorium the night of each concert.

The third concert, set for 7:30 p.m., Saturday, June 29, in Kenan Auditorium, will feature students enrolled in the UNCW Summer Jazz Workshops. These workshops, directed by Bongiorno, provide a week of intensive jazz study for middle and high school students from throughout the state. In addition to studying jazz history and theory, there are master classes on each instrument of a jazz ensemble. Students also interact with UNCW jazz faculty and guest artists. Admission is free to this event.
