Poet Tony Hoagland to Give Reading Sept. 26 at UNC Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC – Native North Carolinian Tony Hoagland will read from his works at 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, in Cameron Hall Auditorium, at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Hoagland’s second book of poems Donkey Gospel received the 1997 James Laughlin Award presented by the Academy of American Poets. He teaches at the University of Pittsburgh and has won two grants from the National Endowment of the Arts. Hoagland’s first poetry collection Sweet Ruin won the 1992 Brittingham Prize in Poetry as well as the Zacharis Award. His work has appeared in Ploughshares, Threepenny Review, Harvard Review and the 1991 Pushcart Prize anthology.
