Welsh Professor to Lecture on Internationalization of Drug Prohibition

Dr. David Bewley-Taylor, will lecture on “The American Crusade: The Internationalization of Drug Prohibition” at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept.12, in UNCW’s Morton Hall, Room 100.His lecture will focus on how the United States is at the forefront of international drug control. A vast majority of world states are members of what Bewley-Taylor calls the “global drug prohibition regime.” He said, “These states prohibit the use of certain drugs for anything other that medical and scientific purposes.”
A lecturer at the University of Wales, Swansea, Bewley-Taylor also studied at the Harry S. Truman Library under a research scholarship. He has written extensively on the U.S. and trans-national drug policy and is an occasional commentator on American politics for BBC Radio Wales.
