New Award to Recognize Young UNCW Alumni Achievements

WILMINGTON, NC –The Young Alumni Council of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington has instituted a new award to recognize young men and women who graduated during the last 10 years for their outstanding contributions to the university and the community.

The Young Alumnus/Alumna of the Year Award is open to all individuals who graduated from UNCW between 1992 and 2002. Nominations can be made by writing a letter of recommendation to the Young Alumni Council, describing why you think the nominee merits the award. Include examples of the nominee’s community involvement, contributions of time, talent and resources to UNCW, professional achievements and leadership ability. Include the nominee’s name, address, daytime telephone number and work place. A resume may also be included.

Nominations should be sent to Tom Lamont, assistant director of alumni relations, Wise Alumni House, 1713 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28403 or emailed to lamontt@uncw.edu.

The deadline for nominations is Dec. 31, 2002. The winner will be recognized at the Young Alumni Council’s Homecoming 2003 social Feb. 7 at Bessie’s downtown.
