UNCW Plans Minority Visitation Day

Tuesday, November 19, 2002

Wilmington, NC – UNC Wilmington will hold its Minority Visitation Day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, in Warwick Center Ballroom.

“This event is focused on minority students, but anyone is welcome to attend,” said Linda MacRae, associate director of admissions and director of diversity recruitment. About 600 invitations were sent to minority high school students across the state, she added.

The event begins with registration at 11 a.m. followed by the opening program at 12:30 p.m. The event will include campus tours, information fair, a financial aid workshop, and a student-to-student session. The visitation day will close with a reception at 5 p.m. with members of the UNCW community, including senior administrators, deans, minority faculty and students, and admissions staff.

“This is an opportunity to talk with UNCW’s minority students about their experiences, to find out how you could make a difference at UNCW, and, of course, to have fun. Parents are welcome to attend all events,” said MacRae.

Deadline to register is Nov. 29. For additional information or to make reservations to attend, call Linda MacRae at 910/962-7435.
