UNCW Alumni to Celebrate Homecoming 2003 Feb. 7-8

WILMINGTON, NC – All UNCW alumni are invited to participate in

Homecoming 2003 Feb. 7 and 8. Special recognition will be given to

1990-93 graduating classes, Kappa Sigma and Alpha Delta Pi.

Young alumni – graduates from 1992 to 2002 – are invited to Bessie’s, 133

N. Front St., for food, music and fun at 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7. The

inaugural Young Alumni Award will be announced.

Activities planned for Saturday, Feb. 8, include:

• The 5K homecoming run at 9 a.m. at the Student Recreation Center on

campus. Early bird registration is $14; on race day the fee is $16. For more

• A complimentary brunch hosted by the alumni association at 10 a.m. in

Wise Alumni House, 1713 Market Street. Dr. Paula Kamenish will lecture

on “The Traveling Classroom.” There is no charge for alumni and a

guest, but advance registration is required.

• The African American Graduates Association (AAGA) meeting at 9 a.m.

in Warwick Center, Room 138. Lunch is at noon in the Center Stage Café;

the cost is $8 in advance, $10 at the door.

• Alumni basketball games in Trask Coliseum. The men take to the court

at 1:30 p.m. and the women at 4:30 p.m.

• A walking tour of campus at 1:30 p.m. from the lobby of Trask Coliseum

and at 3 p.m. a tour of the UNCW Center for Marine Science, 5600 Marvin

K. Moss Lane.

• The chicken pickin’ pregame social at 5 p.m. in the Hawk’s Nest. General

admission for alumni and guests is $10.

• UNCW versus Delaware at 7 p.m. in Trask Coliseum. Call 910.962.3233

for ticket availability. At halftime the UNCW Cameron School of

Business Alumni Chapter will host a social in Trask Coliseum, Room 142

and alumni association chair Ray Cockrell will crown the Homecoming

queen and king.

• The homecoming dance at 9:30 p.m. in the grand ballroom of the

Wilmington Hilton Riverside. Papa Sol from Atlanta will entertain. A

photographer will be available for individual, couple and group photos.

Tickets are $20 a person.

While on campus for Homecoming 2003 alumni can get a complimentary

workout at the Student Recreation Center. The center is open from 6:30

a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8; and 1 to

10:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9. Advance registration with the alumni office is

required for admittance.

The bookstore in Burney Student Support Center will be open for

extended hours. Alumni can use their membership card to get a 10

percent discount off all non-sale items.
