UNCW Artist Recital Series Faculty Concert to Feature Flute, Piano

WILMINGTON, NC – Flutist Mary Jo White and pianist Domonique Launey are featured performers for the UNCW Music Department 2003 Artist Recital Series concert scheduled for 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 13, in Kenan Auditorium.



White, who teaches flute and theory in the university’s Music Department, is principal flutist for the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. A graduate of East Carolina University, White earned a master’s degree from Michigan State University and a doctorate from Boston University. Prior to UNCW, White served as assistant professor of flute at Central Michigan University and flute instructor at Truman State University.



Launey, who is originally from Baton Rouge, La., holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in piano performance from University of Texas at Austin. She has performed throughout southwestern United States and Europe as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist. Launey, who is a member of the Cape Fear Chamber Players, has won numerous prizes including the Gold Medal Award from the L’Academie de Musique in Brussels, Belgium, and first place in the University of Texas Symphony Concerto Competition.
