UNCW Global Summit to Focus on America: Superpower and Responsibility

Wilmington – In light of today’s volatile political climate, what responsibilities does the United States have as the world’s lone superpower?At the 2003 UNC Wilmington Global Summit, four internationally prominent panelists will explore the topic America: Superpower and Responsibility from their various world perspectives, from 6:30-9 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11, in the Warwick Center Ballroom. The panel discussion and town meeting are free and open to the public and will feature the following:
• Ambassador William H. Itoh, former ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand and career member of the Senior Foreign Service currently on detail from the Department of State
• David M. Crane, chief prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone on war crimes, crimes against humanity and violation of international human rights
• Tom J. Farer, dean of the Graduate School of International Affairs at the University of Denver and past president of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights
• Samia Serageldin, author of The Cairo House and consulting editor for In the Name of Osama Bin Laden.
• Moderator – Frances Weller, WECT-TV6 news anchor
