WILMINGTON, NC -- Dr. Stephen Harper, professor of management and marketing and author of several books, will lead a fast-paced one-day seminar on Starting A Small Business. This event, sponsored by the university's Division for Public Service and Continuing Studies, is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday March 22.

The seminar will feature the basics of starting a retail or service business. Participants will learn about opportunities, business plans, legal forms, initial capital requirements, loan application and making the appropriate accounting system.

The cost to attend is $79 and includes a copy of Harper’s national bestseller The McGraw-Hill Guide to Starting Your Own Business. The fee for the spouse of registered participant or a full-time high school or college student is $50 but does not include a copy of the book.
