Chancellor Leutze to Speak at UNCW Commencement, Saturday, May 17

The University of North Carolina at Wilmington will hold commencement exercises Saturday, May 17, in Trask Coliseum. Ceremonies for students in the College of Arts and Sciences will be at 9:30 a.m.; approximately 842 undergraduate and 130 graduate students will receive degrees. Ceremonies for the professional schools (Cameron School of Business, Watson School of Education and the School of Nursing) will be at 1:30 p.m.; approximately 451undergraduate and 78 graduate students will receive degrees. This will be Chancellor Leutze’s final commencement as chancellor and he will have some special remarks for both groups.

Graduation Gala - 4 p.m. on Friday, May 16 in the Warwick Center Ballroom the Division of Student Affairs and the Office of Alumni Relations will sponsor a reception honoring the graduating class of 2003 and their families. During the reception, graduates who choose to participate will pledge to “explore and take into account the social and environmental consequences of any job he/she considers and will try to improve these aspects of any organization for which he/she works.” More than 25 public and private institutions have adopted this pledge, including Harvard University, the University of Kansas and Notre Dame.
