UNCW Professor, Dr. John Clifford Wins Meet

By: Stephanie Kirby, PR InternWILMINGTON – Dr. John Clifford, professor of English at UNCW, is the national champion of the 60-yard high hurdles for competitors in the 60- to 64- age bracket. He won the event at a meet held March 28 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, MA. Clifford also placed third in the 60-meter dash.
This meet was held by the Masters Program, which is sponsored by USA Track and Field. The Program is for runners over 30 to participate. It offers 12 meets a year, six indoor and six outdoor, through out the world. Clifford has participated in these meets for the past 15 years.
Clifford will participate in a meet at North Carolina State University in May. This meet, which has been held for the past 35 years, is the longest running annual competition.
