Wilmington, NC – The UNCW Creative Writing Department is holding its second annual Young Writers’ Workshop for high school students this summer, June 24 – 28. Last year’s inaugural workshop welcomed 35 high school students from all over the region.

The workshop provides five days of intensive writing study and interaction with the UNCW Creative Writing faculty, graduate students and guest authors. It is designed to meet the needs of young writers of varying abilities and experience levels while covering the many facets of writing and the writing life. The program is geared to rising tenth through twelfth grade students and registration will occur on a first come first served basis.

Participants in this year’s workshop will attend lectures on the craft of writing given by UNCW Creative Writing Department distinguished writers Lavonne Adams, Wendy Brenner, Rebecca Lee and Dave Monahan. Students will also attend writing workshops and exercise sessions where they will receive individual attention and advice on their writing.

The Young Writers’ Workshop fee of $325 covers tuition, housing, and three daily meals. Registration is open until the workshop is filled.
