WILMINGTON, NC – Dr. Terry Theodore, a professor in the Department of Art and Theatre at UNC Wilmington, will serve as an external expert reviewer of teacher education programs by the Office of Higher Education for the State Education Department of New York.

Theodore will help evaluate standards of quality for accreditation of theatre programs that prepare classroom teachers at colleges and universities in New York State. He will examine accredited programs for their commitment to and vision for preparing all graduates to be effective teachers as well as their philosophy, purposes and objectives; standards for program registration; teaching effectiveness of graduates; and assessment of candidate achievement. In addition, he will examine if institutions meet standards with regard to financial resources, support services, advertising, candidate complaints, public disclosure of accreditation status and annual reports.
