Chancellor Emeritus Leutze to Chair International Spy Conference in Raleigh

WILMINGTON, NC – UNCW Chancellor Emeritus James R. Leutze will serve as chairman of the inaugural Raleigh International Spy Conference, titled “Spies, Lies & Treason: The KGB in America.” The two-day event will take place August 27-29 at the N.C. Museum of History.

Dr. Leutze, a military scholar and intelligence expert, will moderate the conference that will feature an internationally renowned group of espionage experts and field operatives who will discuss the infamous years of Russian undercover activity directed at the United States. Dr. Christopher Andrew, a premier scholar and author on espionage conducted during the Cold War era, will serve as keynote speaker.

The conference will include a cocktail reception, book signings, spy paraphernalia displays, recent espionage films and videos, and an opportunity to see a museum exhibit featuring items donated by the family of North Carolinian George Watts Hill, who served in the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during World War II.
