Effective July 1, Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo started her tenure at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She previously served as president of Georgia College & State University.

During her six-year tenure, she led Georgia College & State University through a period of unprecedented change, including a new mission and direction as Georgia's designated public liberal arts university. Under her leadership, the university began nearly $100 million in construction and renovation projects on the Milledgeville campus.

DePaolo's efforts have garnered attention across the state and nation. In January 2001, she was named one of the 100 Most Influential Georgians by Georgia Trend magazine, and a year later, she was named one of the magazine’s Most Notable Georgians. In April 2003, the Georgia Senate recognized her achievements with a resolution in her honor.
