Seahawk Statue Stolen from the Warwick Center at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington

WILMINGTON – The bronze statue of UNCW’s

mascot, the seahawk, located at the entrance to

Warwick Center, was stolen sometime between

5:30 p.m. Monday, July 21, and 8:30 a.m.

Tuesday, July 22. The statue, which was

mounted on a granite base, was broken off near

the bird’s talons.

The commissioned statue is valued at

approximately $70,000.
