RE: Lakeside Hall Studio / Classroom Ribbon Cutting Ceremony / Reception

2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, Lakeside Hall

UNC Wilmington Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo and Chair of the Department of Communication Studies Frank Trimble cordially invite you to join them at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug 27 in Lakeside Hall, Room 125 for a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil a new media production studio/classroom. A reception will follow at 3 p.m. in the building’s lobby.

The new studio/classroom in Lakeside Hall is a 2,600-square-foot facility customized and equipped at a cost of $400,000. Designed primarily as an academic classroom and production “laboratory” for communication studies majors, the facility’s fully-integrated, digital technology also provides a production home for UNCW-TV and Student Body Television (SBTV). Features of the studio include audience seating for 30, three digital studio cameras, a full complement of studio lighting, and the capacity to broadcast and switch live or live-to-tape.

This studio facility will provide UNCW students with a valuable resource as the university expands course work in media production and adds a suite of classes connected with studio production, direction and technical design. Students who work in the studio will be better prepared for off-campus internships, graduate study and professional careers. Studio capacities to produce broadcast-quality products will serve UNCW-TV, the Learning Network, and not-for-profit clients. By allowing for expanded class assignments and presentations, the studio will be an asset to the performance studies curriculum.

We hope that you can join us for this event.
