Tuesday, August 26, 2003

WILMINGTON, N.C.—Arianna Huffington, outspoken advocate for political reform and social awareness, has rescheduled her visit to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Huffington will speak 7 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the UNCW’s Kenan Auditorium. She will speak on the topic, “The Call to Leadership.” Originally scheduled to speak Sept. 22, Huffington rescheduled due to her run for the California governorship. A question and answer session and a book signing in Kenan Auditorium lobby will follow the lecture.

She is the author of nine books, including: The Fourth Instinct: The Call of the Soul; the political satire Greetings From the Lincoln Bedroom: How to Overthrow the Government, a call for Americans to take back control of their government; and the internationally best-selling biographies Maria Callas and Picasso.

Huffington’s visit launches the Leadership Lecture Series, a Campus Activities and Involvement Center program designed to expose students to speakers who enlighten, challenge, inspire and demonstrate that all people have the ability to lead if they have the desire to make a difference.
