WILMINGTON, N.C.— Scott Cowdrey has joined the University of North Carolina at Wilmington Information Technology Systems Division as associate vice chancellor.

Cowdrey comes to UNCW from Soka University in Irvine, Calif., where he served as director of information technology. Soka is a residential liberal arts college focusing on education in an international environment.

His previous position was at Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pa., where Cowdrey was director of computing services. Cowdrey brings to UNCW extensive experience in various aspects of information technology including voice, data communications and “e-education” systems, in addition to many years in administrative management.

“Often the role of a new administrator in the information technology support division is to assess the damage and ‘clean up the mess’. I am very pleased to find that UNCW’s IT support infrastructure has a solid foundation and is well positioned to continue bringing technology-based enhancements to the teaching, learning and administrative operations of the campus,” Cowdrey said.
