Wednesday, September 17, 2003

RESCHEDULED FOR 2 to 4 p.m. FRIDAY, SEPT. 26.

Original Release:

WILMINGTON, NC— Moviemaker Rachel Wimberly will lead a discussion from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19 in the University of North Carolina at Wilmington’s Bryan Auditorium, Morton Hall, Room 100. The MovieMaker guest lectures, sponsored by the UNCW Film Studies Department, are free and open to the public.

Wimberly has worked as director of development for a Los Angeles-based entertainment company, working from inception of the screenplay through theatrical release on such films as Deep Blue Sea and The Family Man, starring Nicholas Cage. In addition, Wimberly has worked as producer and writer for CNN Business News and as senior writer for Scr(i)pt magazine.

Wimberly will discuss the path a screenplay takes from the moment it is “signed on” by an agent or literary manager until it goes before the cameras. To schedule a time to pitch screenplay ideas and receive feedback from Wimberly, a sign-up sheet for UNCW students is posted outside the film studies office.
