Tuesday, October 07, 2003
WILMINGTON, NC- The University of North Carolina at Wilmington’s Student Government Association is soliciting stories from UNCW students, faculty, staff and others as a statewide effort by the UNC Association of Student Governments (UNCASG) to collect personal stories about tuition increases and budget cuts. The UNCASG has created the Web site www.personalstories.org where peoples’ stories can be read. The UNCASG, sponsor of this project, is a non-partisan, multi-campus organization dedicated to the service of North Carolina’s students. It is an organization made up of four representatives from each of the 16 campuses in the North Carolina university system.
The goal of the UNCASG Web site project is to compile 1,600 stories, 100 from each of the 16 campuses, by the end of November. The stories collected will be published in a book that will be given to every member of the North Carolina General Assembly, University Board of Governors, chancellors and trustees as evidence of how their recent decisions are affecting students.
The goal of the UNCW Student Government Association is to exceed 100 stories from students, faculty and staff.
