MEMOTO: Wilmington Area Media
FROM: Mimi Cunningham
You are invited to attend and cover a live interactive session between participants in Randall Library and aquanauts working in Aquarius, the world’s only undersea research laboratory, owned by NOAA and operated by UNC Wilmington. The event will take place from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the distance learning classroom on the second floor of Randall Library. Light refreshments will be available starting at 9:30.
The purpose of the event is to make media and school officials aware of the National Undersea Research Center and Aquarius and the capabilities of marine and environmental education outreach to schools and informal learning centers in the region. The one-hour interactive event linking UNCW with Aquarius will include an introduction to NURC and Aquarius, and a 30-40 minute link with aquanauts and habitat technicians, including questions and answer session. The media and school officials attending the presentation will be given time to interact with the aquanauts as well.
We hope you can join us for this opportunity to use technology to personally connect with aquanauts conducting scientific research in Aquarius.
