WILMINGTON, NC- Steve Perry, computer systems manager in the Information Technology Systems Division at University of North Carolina at Wilmington, completed a two-year Public Manager Program (PMP).

The purpose of PMP is to provide an in-depth, comprehensive training program for middle managers from state government agencies and university campuses. Each year roughly 100 participants are selected by their agencies and universities.

The PMP consists of the Management Development Planning Workshop, eight courses and an individual project, which demonstrates the application of learnings in developing and implementing a plan of action that is intended to improve the quality of service in the participant’s work unit. Perry’s project was titled “Improving the Introduction of New Campus Wide Computer Based Systems” and focused on the rollout process for new systems.

Perry says of the program, “I feel it made a positive impact professionally, I highly recommend the program. I found the classes to be of great benefit not only professionally but in everyday situations.”

A graduate of the PMP is designated a Certified Public Manager which is recognized by a national consortium of over 20 states.
