Monday, January 12, 2004
By Rebecca D’Amico, PR InternWilmington- The University of North Carolina at Wilmington Honors departments of Computer Science and Psychology and the Center for Teaching Excellence will present the play, “What is it Like to be a Robot?” at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 15 in UNCW’s Cameron Hall, Room 105.
The play addresses common questions about artificial intelligence in a unique way, by interviewing a robot named Judy. After reviewing the play, Daniel Dennett, the author of “Consciousness Explained”, said this “witty play…is an imagination stretcher that delights while it exercises your mind.”
The play stars Judy the Robot and Tom Sgouros, and combines computers, banjos, and discussions on mind and consciousness, which according to Will Stackman of Aislesay.com, “…are woven into a bravura performance” and will provide “…an engrossing evening…”
This event is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception. For more information contact Bo Dean at 910/962-4181.
