You are invited to cover the ceremony and reception recognizing the 2004 North Carolina Living Treasure.
Master potter Ben Owen III has been named the 2004 North Carolina Living Treasure by the UNCW Museum of World Cultures, William Madison Randall Library. This is one of the state’s highest honors for creative excellence. The award ceremony and reception will take place at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5 in the Weyerhaeuser Reception Hall at the Louise Wells Cameron Art Museum. Immediately following the award ceremony, there will be a preview reception of his exhibition “A Natural Influence: New Works by Ben Owen III”.
Ben Owen III of Seagrove, N.C. is a nationally renowned artist whose work has been featured in Smithsonian magazine, New York Times, Business Week and is included in the collections of the Chrysler Museum of Art, the Ohio Craft Museum, the Mint Museum of Craft and Design, and the Cameron Art Museum.
“A Natural Influence: New Works by Ben Owen III” will be exhibited Feb.5 through May 2 at the Louise Wells Cameron Art Museum.
