Story by UNCW Alumna and Staff Member Appears in Journalist Collection

Wilmington, N.C.—Elizabeth King Humphrey, an information and communications specialist with the University Relations office of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a graduate of the UNCW Creative Writing master’s program, has a short story appearing in an international collection of writings.The book Something to Write Home About is a collection of 89 stories from 40 countries. Contributors are journalists who write about how they were touched by something in the course of their duties. Stories range from humorous to tragic.
The book will be launched in Johannesburg, South Africa, May 3, which is International Media Freedom Day. The South African publisher has interest from Ohio University Press for the U.S. publication and a U.K. publisher.
All the royalties from the volume will go to the Miguel Gil Moreno Foundation and the Kerem Lawton Trust. Miguel Gil Moreno was a journalist killed in Sierra Leone in 2000 and Kerem Lawton was a journalist killed in Kosovo in 2001. Both worked for the Associated Press.
Humphrey previously worked with Associated Press and CBS News before settling in Wilmington, N.C., in 2000.
