UNCW Panel Discusses “Women in Underrepresented Fields”

By Tiffany Johnson, PR InternWILMINGTON, N.C. – In honor of Women's History Month, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington will have a panel discussion sponsored by the Women in Leadership Mentoring Program. The theme of this year's panel is "Women in Underrepresented Fields,” and the event will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 23 in Wagoner Hall, Madeline Suite. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Panelists include Susan Dankel, executive manager of WHQR and an Episcopalian deacon; Laurie Patterson, assistant chair of the UNCW computer science department; Susan Fritzen, a civil engineer in facility construction; and Audra McBride, assistant director of campus recreation for the university. The panelists will discuss how they decided to pursue careers in their respective fields, discrimination they have faced as women in male-dominated professions and how women can help other women to be professionally successful.
