2004 Southeast Regional Science Fair at UNC Wilmington, Saturday, March 27

WILMINGTON, NC – The University of North Carolina at Wilmington will host the annual Southeast Regional Science Fair on Saturday, March 27, in Trask Coliseum. The public is invited to view the projects from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Rosemary DePaolo, Chancellor at UNC Wilmington, will open the awards ceremony at 2 p.m.

Over 215 public and private school students from 10 counties (who were winners at their local county fairs) will display and explain their research projects to professional scientists and engineers from the university and local business and industry. The eight first- and second-place winners in the Junior and Senior Divisions along with eight Elementary winners will be eligible to compete at the State Science Fair, which will be conducted at Meredith College in Raleigh on Friday, April 30.

In addition to the Regional Science Fair winners, various state and local organizations will be awarding “special awards.” These “special awards” are contributions made by the following agencies: American Meteorological Society, Fisher Scientific, and North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.
