UNCW Faculty Trio Perform Beethoven and Brahms

Wilmington, N.C. – The University of North Carolina at Wilmington Department of Music faculty Barry David Salwen, piano, Mike Waddell, clarinet, and Richard Thomas, cello, will perform chamber music trios by Beethoven and Brahms at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 1 in Kenan Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for general admission; $2.50 for seniors, staff and children under 12; and free to UNCW Students with a valid ID.

Barry Salwen, associate professor of piano at UNCW and an international concert pianist, has given performances and master classes in the U.S., Europe, Israel and Asia. He has released nine CDs.

Mike Waddell has performed on clarinet and saxophones in a number of styles, touring in the U.S. and abroad. Waddell is the recipient of two Jazz Composer fellowships from the North Carolina Arts Council and a Regional Project Artist Grant from the United Arts Council. He has performed with the Temptations, Four Tops, Los Angeles Philharmonic and in the Kennedy Center with the National Symphony.

Richard Thomas is on the faculty of UNCW, the University of South Carolina-Aiken, and Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. Thomas is the principal cellist of the Wilmington Symphony.
