UNCW Presents Media and Foreign Policy with Ole R. Holsti, Professor of Political Science, Duke University

Wilmington, N.C.- The Political Science Department of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington presents Ole Holsti, professor of political science, Duke University, to discuss “Media and Foreign Policy,” as part of the Great Decisions Discussion Program, a spring lecture series. The lecture is at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 30 in Cameron Hall Auditorium, Room 105. The lecture is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.

Holsti specializes in international politics and foreign policy decision-making. He is the author of Crisis, Escalation, War, Content Analysis for the Social Sciences and Humanities and Public Opinion and American Foreign Policy and co-author of International Alliance: Unity and Disintegration, Enemies in Politics, Communication Content, Vietnam and the Breakdown of Consensus. His articles have appeared in American Political Science Review, The Handbook of Social Psychology, Public Opinion Quarterly, World Politics, Journal of Politics, International Political Science Review, and various other journal and books. He is the former associate editor of International Studies Quarterly and is a contributing editor of Running Journal. Holsti was a Guggenheim Fellow from 1981-82 and a fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences.

The Great Decision Discussion Program is the longest standing and largest grassroots world affairs educational program of its kind. It is the core of the Foreign Policy Association’s civic education outreach efforts and works to bring millions of Americans together in communities across the country to discover, discuss, and decide their opinions on foreign policy issues. This lecture series presents experts in foreign policy on a variety of current global affairs.
