Wednesday, April 21, 2004

Wilmington, N.C. – The second Surplus Store Sale at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 23. The surplus store is located at the Warehouse Extension on Plyler Street. Parking will be available street side and in the parking lot located behind the University Police building.

Although items in the store will vary, the types of items available this month include office furniture, classroom furnishings, computer components including laptops, as well as furnishings from campus housing, and food service and maintenance equipment.

Business was brisk for the first sale, held March 5, with approximately 800 customers and more than 500 items sold according to Dan Galan, surplus coordinator.

UNCW Surplus Store Sales are open to the general public for cash sales only. No checks or credit cards are accepted. Items are sold as-is, where-is, with no warranties. The university cannot deliver items sold. And all goods purchased must be taken away from the warehouse by 3:30 p.m. on the day of the sale.

Dates will be announced later for surplus store sales in May and June. More frequent sales may be scheduled depending on the volume of items available for sale and the public’s interest in the sales according to Suzanne Helms, campus services director.
