An Updated Statement on the Investigation into Student Death

Curtis Timothy Dixon, UNCW freshman from Charlotte, NC, has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Jessica Lee Faulkner, UNCW sophomore from Cary, NC, and he is being held without bond in the New Hanover County Jail. Arraignment is set for Thursday, May 6. This remains an ongoing investigation.
“On behalf of the UNC Wilmington family, I want first to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Jessica Faulkner, her friends, and others impacted by this tragedy. We are shocked and saddened that such a thing could have happened. I have every confidence in the UNCW University Police as they pursue this investigation, and we welcome the support and collaboration of the State Bureau of Investigation and local law enforcement,” said UNCW Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo.
